As part of the activities to commemorate the World Human Rights Day 2016, the Human Rights Department of the Justice Development and Peace Initiative, Catholic Diocese of Ekiti State, Ekiti State, organised an essay competition within Secondary Schools in Ekiti State South Senatorial District. The following five schools participated in the competition: Obada High School Ise Ekiti, St Louis Grammar School, Ikere Ekiti, Annunciation School Ikere Ekiti, African Church Comprehensive High School Ikere Ekiti, Ogbese Comprehensive High School Ise Ekiti, out of which Thirty-Six students (36) submitted entries for the essay competition. The three winners of the essay competition emerged from the St Louis Grammar School Ikere Ekiti, where Ekuigbo Blessing emerged as the winner with a cash prize of Twenty-five thousand naira only (25,000), the second position being Oluwatoba Tolulope with a cash prize of Twenty thousand naira only (20,000), and the third position goes to Familua Oluwadamilola who went away with a cash prize of Fifteen thousand naira only (15,000). The winners were presented their cash awards with certificates of participation on the school assembly ground by their principal while other students cheered on.
